Need help from your bank after being scammed? Let's put it in writing!
Scammers trick people into sending money by pretending to be someone they trust. When you're tricked into making a bank transfer to a fraudster, this is known as an "authorised push payment" (APP) scam.
You can raise concerns directly with your bank.
Since 7 October 2024, mandatory reimbursement rules have applied to eligible scam payments between UK accounts through Faster Payments or CHAPS. Different rules apply to earlier payments and other payment methods. Read the FCA's current guidance.
Any reimbursement depends on your circumstances and the applicable rules which your bank and or the Financial ombudsman will help you calculate and get for free.
